This hummus recipe is the one that we used when we filmed an episode for the French TV show, Le goût du pays in August. I modified the recipe to incorporate hemp in place of tahini for a delicious nutty and mild taste.
1 cup chickpeas (cooked or canned)
1 small to medium roasted carrot, beet, red or orange bell pepper
3-5 tablespoons freshly squeezed lemon juice
1 clove of garlic
1 pinch of ground cumin
sea salt to taste
freshly ground pepper to taste
Combine all the ingredients in a food processor or heavy duty blender until puréed. You may need to add a bit more liquid to the puree. I added some of the aquafaba from the chickpeas to help with the puree.
Serve immediately with ZypChicks natural or infused hemp oil or cover and refrigerate for an hour or more.
Enjoy with local vegetables, homemade pita chips, sweet potato chips, or simply smeared into your favourite sandwich.
